June 9	Introduction and Program Overview
June 16	Effective Search of Healthcare Literature In this session, participants will be given general suggestions for effective and efficient literature searches, plus an overview of selected databases in the healthcare field, including reference management, impact factors, e-journal access and a review of PubMed searches.
June 23	Media Skills As a researcher, you should be able to communicate your story effectively in one minute, using appropriate language for your audience. Participants will be asked to pitch their research to a member of the Medical Communications Office.
June 30	Data Analysis This session will briefly cover the three major steps in data analysis: Data preparation and screening; Descriptive statistics; and, Inferential statistics

July 28	How Does Your Research Have Impact? Effective Poster Presentation Skills How to create and deliver a poster presentation. Advice from judges of past student research days will offer tips on how to create a research poster that will capture (and sustain) attention. Group discussion about suitability and readability of display posters will further demonstrate what makes a successful poster presentation. download presentation (.pdf)
